Update

Hey, I know I haven't blogged in a long time. Long. So even though this blog was all a plot to get more text on the site, I feel that since I have it, I should keep it updated. I mean hey, it's one of the most clicked-through links in the homepage. So let me tell you what I've been up to on Cosine Gaming the last year.

To be honest, I haven't done a lot. I've been busy watching anime, reading manga, and playing Skyrim (Dwemer. Freaking Dwemer). (And yes, that's what I do with my life...). But I have done a few big projects and... undone a few. Sometimes at the same time.

The biggest project I've been working on is the website. Like, seriously, I made some big changes. That I haven't written about, but I did like 20 chromosomes ago. So I did an entire site redesign. It really needed it. I changed to using pink!!! I love pink. By the way, if you have a feel about the new design, shoot us it. We love to hear feels. But I did that in, like, a weekend. That was not too hard. The real change was... The Server Move.

In the past, I used a shared hosting service called iPage. Now I'm not going to say iPage was awful, but it was stinking awful. I'm going to say something here: if you're paying for web hosting, you're doing it wrong. Right now I'm using Google Cloud Platform (App Engine) to host my site. "But Cosine, why are you using a scalable platform for such miniscule processing?" Two reasons. One, it's Google. So they can make things really cheap. Two, for exactly that reason. Because CG is so rarely used, it's affordable for me to use a scalable platform because I'm only paying for what I'm using which isn't much. Three (yes), I like dynamic pages. It just seems so much cleaner. I know I could get this elsewhere, but it was a perk for App Engine. So I've been completely porting my site. Now you won't see this manifest in the site (except URL structure), but I've moved to a much more easy to develop on platform using dynamic pages and real-time templating. ...Which is one reason I haven't blogged in so long. For one thing, I've been busy. For two... I just rewrote my blog software. It is much cleaner now. (And you should see a speed improvement. Yay!)

Now, lastly, I want to talk about something I didn't do, or rather, I stopped doing. And that is the Indigo Engine. When I started, a mentor of mine was making a 3D graphics engine. And of course I wanted to be like him so I did myself. I spent a lot of time on that. Like too much. I stopped developing anything else. And only a long while later I realized that no one needs or wants another 3D graphics engine. Now I know that I was doing this to learn, so I'm not beating myself up over it, but I realized something then. The reason I have Cosine Gaming is because I don't like to just learn something and throw it away. If I can learn the same stuff while still making something, and being productive, I'd much rather do that. I'll write more about stopping TIE later. So yeah, sorry. Maybe I'll make a game for you now. :)

Enough about what I have been doing, I'm done with that stuff. Let me briefly introduce what I will be doing. And that is... another game! All I can tell you is it's a puzzle game. I want to make a beautiful 2D game with puzzles, that I can keep making more and more harder levels for. It'll be endless. If someone finishes, I'll make more levels. Like a webcomic for levels. Oh, and that's not all I can tell you. That's all I've figured out

So that's pretty much what I've been up to. I'll try to keep this blog at least a little more updated for you guys in the future.
