Net Neutrality
Recently, the FCC has been trying to kill net neutrality, a move which I cannot agree with. The concept stretches farther than the net - it's about treating some people better than others based on wealth and power. No one is intrinsically better than anyone else. No one deserves more rights or power than anyone else. And it's even more ridiculous to say that people with more money are better than other people - they're completely unrelated, besides ridiculous, metrics. The Internet is possibly the resource with the most potential to be free - information, rather than needing to be evenly distributed, can easily be given to everyone. Trying to give some people this valuable, ever-more-important resource faster or better is like only letting white people learn to read. It's wrong to try to do this, and it shouldn't be getting as far as it is. For a longer rant on why the Internet must be free, feel free to read my post on NSA Surveillance, File Sharing, and Privacy.
An interesting problem I've been coming to myself is how to affect national policy when I live with little power in a small town. My (somewhat pathetic) answer to that was partially to write in this blog, and thus we have this. I encourage readers to spread their opinion as well. The Internet can't be treated like this. I subscribe to Fight for the Future, and I hope you'll help them make change in their more powerful position by donating.
Sorry I haven't been able to post recently, I've been really busy with the newest version of the Indigo Engine, and I've also been working on a secret new game!
